Perceptual Ratio Study · Bradley–Terry
What is the most pleasing division?
Every trial shows two rectangles, each bisected at a different point. Pick whichever split you find more pleasing — no numbers, no labels, just the shape. After enough trials, your choices get fit to a Bradley–Terry model to rank the candidate ratios, including φ⁻¹ ≈ 0.618, against each other.

Ranked by estimated strength
Method
Each ratio is a player in a Bradley–Terry model: the chance that i beats j is p(i)/(p(i)+p(j)). Strengths are fit by Zermelo’s algorithm with a small symmetric prior so undersampled ratios stay finite. After a short warmup, pairs are chosen to maximise Fisher information — the closest matchups — so later trials concentrate on the hard calls. Stop when the ranking looks stable; extra trials mostly refine close calls rather than reshuffling the order.
